The Fearnley Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 58

Are you ready

For your mark?

Take the Fourth Regular Step

What’s next?

You’ve been a member of a Craft Lodge for a while; what’s next?

You may already have joined the Royal Arch and be enjoying your time with Chapter Companions.

Mark Masonry is an appendant Order to the Craft and only requires that you have passed through the three Craft degrees. The allegorical story we use in this instance is associated with events after the death of Hiram Abiff and his replacement, Adoniram. The degree fits nicely between Fellowcraft and Master Mason and involves one ceremony.

What’s our style?

Mark Masonry is a popular Order and is sometimes referred to as the Friendly Degree. This is often challenged by non-Mark men and members alike. They say, quite rightly, that all Masons are friendly, so how can one degree claim this attribute?

The simple answer?    It just is.

We are a smaller order, formed from some of the keenest members of the Craft. Our meetings are more relaxed but still dignified. Visitors are an important aspect of The Mark and are often called upon to help out in the ceremonies when required.

Charity

Charity is a big part of who we are. The Mark Benevolent Fund, or MBF, is the national Mark Charity and offers grants to organisations both at home and abroad to help those in need. They also support Brethren and their dependents with regular financial help if required.

Uniquely in the Province of West Yorkshire, we have The Cleeves and Whitehead Trust. Our local Mark charity benefits West Yorkshire Mark Masons and their dependants. It prides itself on the ability to respond quickly and effectively.

Meetings

With some exceptions, Mark meetings are in Autumn and Winter, and Mark Lodges have fewer annual meetings than in Craft. Fearnley Mark Lodge is one of the most important lodges in the Province, having existed for over 150 years and was instrumental in forming the Province of West Yorkshire. We meet at the Masonic Hall on King Street, Mirfield, on the second Wednesday of February, April, October and December.

If you are ready to take the fourth regular step in Freemasonry, please fill in the contact form. We would be delighted to hear from you. If our meeting night or location is inconvenient, we will pass your details on to the Provincial Secretary. He will help you find a more suitable Mark Lodge.

This page is here to elicit interest from existing Craft masons in the appendant degree of Mark Master Mason. It may be confusing to non-Masons. If you have an interest in joining Freemasonry in the Mirfield area at the entry level, please send an email to membership@mirfield1102.org
